As just one example that demonstrates our commitment to social responsibility, more than 90% of our staff is female heads of households.
Mercico’s Men of Honor Project hires Colombian ex-military personnel who were injured during active duty. This project provides job opportunities to disabled soldiers—victims of land mines—as our way to show gratitude to the honorable men and women that risked their lives for our country.
AN INCLUSIVE COMPANY
Mercico’s recruitment and hiring philosophy is based on inclusion and diversity. By providing job opportunities to Colombia’s vulnerable populations, we are contributing to the progress of those most in need. For example, Mercico currently has an agreement with the Servicio Nacional de Aprendizaje (SENA, or national training service) to hire trainees from Choco, a historically vulnerable department of Colombia with a primarily Afro-Colombian population. In addition, we are currently collaborating with the Chao Racismo NGO to certify Mercico as an inclusive company that does not discriminate against race, gender, sexual preference, or age.
Mercico is currently collaborating with SunColombia, an internationally recognized company making headway in the photovoltaic field, to implement a solar energy system in our factory to provide energy for our electricity needs.
